I hope you’re excited for another year of summer league swimming. Coach Cuany and I have been working diligently to plan a course of action for the summer. We will be emphasizing technique to your children in order to maximize their potential in the water. Throughout the coming weeks, we will continue to work with your swimmers by catering to each swimmer’s individual stroke development needs. As the season progresses, we will also teach swimmers about nutrition, goal setting, and other aspects of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our goal as coaches this summer is to create a positive, conducive environment to help develop and motivate athletes of all ages. We want to help them achieve excellence in fitness and in life through dedication, passion, perseverance and hard work.
Our practice schedule this season will be as follows:
|Mon – Thurs||6 and Under||6:00pm-6:30pm|
|Mon – Thurs||7 – 10||6:30pm-7:15pm|
|Mon – Thurs||11 and Up||7:15pm-8:00pm|
Swimmers are strongly encouraged to attend a minimum of three practices per week. Year round swimmers are welcome to attend their year round practice in lieu of the Charleston Village practice.
After the traditional school year has finished, morning practices will be held 7:30am-8:30am, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Morning practices are available for swimmers wanting additional instruction or an alternate practice schedule.
We will be monitoring the water temperature in the coming weeks to ensure safe swimming conditions. We will also be extremely adamant about informing the swim team parents if inclement weather is to occur.
We do not have any practices Saturday, May 24th or Monday, May 26th. We understand this is a holiday weekend and know many of you are going on vacation. We encourage you to take this opportunity to gain some family time in the sun. We’d love for your swimmers to get in the pool during this three-day period so that they can retain the basic stroke technique we will be working on this week.
Please keep in mind that our mock meet is on Tuesday, June 10th this year. This will allow new parents to learn the volunteer positions and it will give the coaching staff an idea of where your child is at competitively. If you would like to volunteer, please check out the volunteer forms page on our website (http://www.cvswimteam.org/volunteer-signup/signup-sheets/?sheet_id=8).
Both Charleston Village coaches will be offering private swim lessons throughout the summer. If you would like your children to have additional one-on-one help with their stroke development/technique, please send us an email or flag us down at the pool.
As coaches, we will try to do our best to communicate with you throughout the summer. If you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, please send us an email or visit our FAQs page on the website (http://www.cvswimteam.org/faqs/).
We hope your swimmers have fun and we are excited to see what the season has in store.
